Logan Verrett demoted for Erik Goeddel
The Mets have announced prior to today’s game that right-handed pitcher Logan Verrett has been demoted to AAA Las Vegas. In a corresponding move, the Mets have recalled right-handed pitcher Erik Goeddel from AAA Las Vegas, and he is scheduled to be in Milwaukee in time to help the Mets bullpen today.
Verrett, had made a spot start for the Mets yesterday and was lit up for five runs in just four innings. He has lasted a combined 6.2 innings over his last two spot starts. Verrett had previously thrown a combined twelve scoreless innings over his first two spot starts back in April.
Goeddel had been in the running for a spot in the Mets bullpen during Spring Training but was beat out for a spot by Jim Henderson. Goeddel had missed most of the spring with a lat injury which contributed to him not being a part of the Opening Day bullpen. He currently held a 4.94 ERA in 24 appearances for Las Vegas, but had posted better numbers of late. Over his last 4.1 innings he has allowed no runs while only allowing two hits, and striking out six. Goeddel had posted a 2.43 ERA for the Mets last season over 35 appearances out of the bullpen.
